The Kardashians are often considered self-centered, a trait that may have its roots in the O.J. Simpson trial. On Tuesday’s episode of “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” the now-famous family was seen cheering for themselves during an otherwise intense scene. Check out the video below.
As Gossip Cop reported, the new miniseries, which premiered last week, recreates Simpson’s infamous murder trial for the deaths of his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. David Schwimmer plays the late Robert Kardashian, who was a member of his close pal’s defense team. Selma Blair portrays Kris Jenner, and several child actors were hired to stand in for Kourtney, Khloe, Kim, and Rob Kardashian.
During the first episode, the kids were seen causing a ruckus at Brown’s funeral, and another scene had Schwimmer’s Robert Kardashian urging Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s Simpson not to commit suicide in “Kimmy’s bedroom.” But there was another awkward moment in the second installment.
As the young children watched their father giving a press conference on television, they couldn’t process the significance or seriousness. Instead, they were just in awe over their dad being on TV and their family getting attention. After the kid who is seemingly to be playing Kim spells out ‘Kardashian’ letter by letter, she and Rob, Kourtney and Khloe excitedly chant their surname over and over.
Now whether such a thing actually happened is unknown. The producers have said the scripts were vetted by lawyers, but given that it’s a dramatic retelling, it’s likely some liberties were taken. None of the now-adult Kardashians have publicly commented on their portrayal. Watch the clip below.
